Karina joined Blueprint Law in 2010. While her expertise is in the areas of intellectual property, general commercial & corporate and employment, she also has experience advising clients in the media and entertainment sector on a range of other matters relevant to that sector.
Within the firm’s intellectual property practice, Karina advises on the protection and commercialism of various forms of intellectual property. She also assists in resolving intellectual property disputes and represents clients in the enforcement and protection of their intellectual property rights, including before the courts. With a particular emphasis on trade marks and copyright, Karina has extensive experience in commencing and managing both local and international trade mark portfolios and brand strategies for clients in a variety of the industry sectors as well as managing the use, licensing and ownership of copyright.
Karina has worked on a range of commercial and corporate matters including in relation to company structures, shareholder and investment arrangements, general commercial contracts and terms and conditions, commercial transactions and company secretarial duties, particularly in the start-up space. Her commercial experience also extends to consumer law and trade practices issues relevant to businesses selling goods and/or providing services direct to consumers or other businesses.
Together with Gary, Karina manages the firm’s employment law practice and provides advice on a spectrum of employment law issues relevant to businesses generally but particularly for start-ups and businesses with innovative and unconventional business models. Karina has advised clients on both sides of the table (that is, both employees and employers) in relation to employment agreements, awards and enterprise agreements, employment rights and obligations, terminations, redundancies, workplace disputes (including general protections) and transfers of employment. Karina has represented clients in employment disputes including before the Fair Work Commission.
Karina also contributes to the firm’s media and entertainment practice. She has experience in preparing and negotiating a broad range of rights and production agreements predominately in relation to film and television production.
Karina holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Diploma of Legal Practice (GPLP) and is admitted to practice as a solicitor in New South Wales.
